September: Brighton

This trip was brilliant!  We stayed at this site Southdown...which is a non-profit-making site that supports The Sussex Beacon charity.  The site itself is situated near to the Jack and Jill windmills... one of which could be seen from where we parked Wilby.
Day one, upon arrival, we wandered around the local village and bought supplies, including holiday fish'n'chips (which always taste better than at home)!  Next day we headed for Brighton...spending some time on the beach collecting pebbles and shells before walking along the sea front past typical seaside shops and carousel.

Later we drove further along the coast where we enjoyed lunch at The Smugglers Rest at Peacehaven and met with a work colleague of Alan's...it was good to meet her at last!

Later upon returning to camp we got the bikes out and headed towards the Windmills...but although the lanes were fine, when it came to the rugged up-hill climb I decided to take heed of the warning held within the nursery rhyme and turned around and headed back to camp!

On Sunday we took another drive along the coast, in the other direction this time...browsing through Shoreham, Hove and Worthing before turning back to Brighton where we'd been invited to share lunch with a friend of mine and her family.  I'd not met her husband and kids before, so that was good.
We all went for a walk after lunch, before returning to their home for chocolate cake!

Back at camp for the evening we simply slobbed around before falling asleep...waking early for another day of adventure!

This time Alan took Roxy for a walk while I rejoined my friend at her home...along with two others.  For me this was a highlight of the Brighton visit as it meant sharing a séance in a newly formed séance room.  Fab!

Unfortunately it was time to return home after this...but as the journey was trouble-free all was well...so we arrived tired but happy : )
